[Locked to Residents]

Hey-o Luceti, how's it going?! This is Pascal coming to you from the super secret tappy-tap things! I've been waiting to come down here forever and get my hands on 'em ever since Precis did her thing not too long ago, they're pretty intense. I bet if I just plonk on this thing...

[Everyone is now treated to a few minutes of Pascal tapping the camera and purposely rubbing her hands over the microphone a few times. Now this setup is pretty sweet, way better than the outdated junk that was found further down the tunnels... Oh right, important stuff. It wouldn't be right if Pascal came down here and just talked, she has a journal for that, so have some typing.]

Okay, so a little while back me and some other guys all went off on this mission to learn about the droids. Not only that, but we went off to make sure all the droidy guys get super messed up! Not sooo messed up that you can tell, but you know, tiny itty-bitty things that are actually HUGE. If any droids showed up to drag you off to the draft then maybe you already know that they've seriously been knocked down a peg, or ten. Or whole stack of pegs!

Let's see. The droids have this endless zappy battery so they can keep going on and on and ooon, but a few of us guys tweaked a few things or whatever and now they're not so endless! Or they might just overheat on you, but that's really good too! Just not for the droids. I think there was some thunkathunk on the armor and joints the droids have, but one of the techies will need to field that!

What else... Oh, yeah, right! There are like billions of lines of code and stuff in those guys! There's so much that you could slip in something without anyone else knowing, but that secret something ends up being major pain in the butt. Or a pain in the crotch, you should all go for the crotch! Those droids might be able to calculate a kabillion different way to fight back, but they'll be totally stumped if you aim for between their legs. Not only that, but if the droids seem distracted or frozen then that was us too! Turns out that if you turn (this) into ((this) then you really kafrazzle them!

And that's it! If you want to ask anything then go ahead, I'll be here to answer all your droid-like questions and stuff.

[Or she'll be answering when she isn't staring intently at the laptop and poking around a little.

OOC - Open discussion. Threadjacking is definitely encouraged, especially as Pascal probably isn't the best at explaining the nitty gritty stuff in a more straightforward way.]

You... you guys did that? You made the droids vulnerable?

[Pause]

I can't thank you enough.
risingshepard: Smiling Shepard. (Not bad at all.)

[personal profile] risingshepard 2012-11-02 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
We're just doing our jobs.

No need to treat us like saints or anything.

But it let someone precious to me get saved from war. I gotta let out all my thankfulness somehow.

Cool, but I'll accept thanks in the form of a pie.

[He would not normally show off that he did a (non-essential) role in sucha mission.

...But he wants to tease Aang]
risingshepard: Amusement. (Now this is interesting.)

[personal profile] risingshepard 2012-11-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Then give it to everyone else. They did the real work here. I just lended a helping hand.

[She's selling herself rather short, isn't she?]
risingshepard: Attention. (Hmm.)

[personal profile] risingshepard 2012-11-02 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[If anyone else wants to ask Shepard about the droids instead of Pascal, ask here! She'll be helping out with having the little deets sorted.]

Masaomi! You were...?

What kind?

[personal profile] generalflirt 2012-11-02 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Out doing the dumb work while the experts handled the hard part? Mmmmhm.
daisy023: (What)

[personal profile] daisy023 2012-11-02 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[And she was going to call this Operation: MYRTILUS. To think pulling an actual kick in the groin would be an effective melee strategy against the droids from now on.]

... This is SPARTAN-023. Mind if I elaborate, ma'am?

The battery violates the second law of thermodynamics. It was an actual perpetual motion machine. It wasted no energy as it sent it everywhere. The trick was in having it not break that law, but without the Malnosso noticing it too easily.

I wasn't as involved in that one - it was advanced tech even for me. We had a lot more brilliant minds working on that one.

[She doesn't deserve near as much credit. She was a person who had been at the right place and the right time who still had to finish her job.]

... As for the plating, it's made of titanium and a strange crystal-like metal not existing in my world. Even Covenant ship alloys or a Hunters' shields don't come this close with resistance. We figured the solution consisted in imperfecting the alloy a little.

Think of how a diamond is the hardest material in existence, but it can still chip. When hit at a certain point, the diamond fractures and separates.

Team effort, Mister Aang. Everyone did the jobs they were needed to do.

... but you're welcome, from all of us.

[Hearing this makes her pause. In the middle of the regrets of the last draft... this makes her feel well. Amidst the innocents she had to kill for the cure, she did something for those that would refuse to go to fight.

She takes too long to answer.]

... We did what was expected of us. It was only necessary.

[A phrase of a close friend comes to her mind.

No soldier should be honored for doing what it's expected.]

[ ...Okay Ikki's not totally clear on the technological stuff being spouted here, particularly in Daisy's reply, but the bits about the droids being weakened and her grandfather's response helps it to click that whatever happened on this droid mission helped what had happened at the house before the draft, when the droids had come.

Please and thank you are important, so she'll at least come to say something, although she's not going to bother responding to any of the technical things, instead making a list of words and sentences to bother Raine with the next time she has a tutoring lesson (although the chances of her being able to understand any of these concepts are a little far-fetched). ]

Oh! Um, like grandpa said, thank you very much. I don't really get some of the things you're saying, but what you mean is that if you hadn't done these things, my family might've gotten hurt more when the droids came, right? When they didn't let me be drafted.

So, thank you. It sounds like you all worked very hard!!! And I have candy from the maze still if you want some in thanks? Or I can make more candy apples because I learned how!!!

Yep, I have some in metal foil with little Halloween pictures on them!

[ THEY ARE CUTE, here she will show you on video look how delicious.

Actually she has quite the stash, since she...went through the maze nonstop over the past few days...Although the stash is under adult supervision, she can take some out to give to people no problem. That's not the same as eating it herself. ]

[personal profile] generalflirt 2012-11-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, I'll tackle apple.
daisy023: (Look)

[personal profile] daisy023 2012-11-02 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
... Basically.

[To Pascal's defense, Daisy once thought of baking with the MJOLNIR on.]

Metals have a grade at which they can bend, and in all uses, it's an important thing to consider when designing structures or machinery. The crystal component is there to aid in its' solidity, in a similar way carbon is applied in steel. Mess it up, and the comparison is accurate.
savedtheworld: (shy hello)

R-right, Mr. Law. I know the value of team effort alright. I wouldn't be hear without it. And I'm grateful to all of you.

This is a good step for all of us; thank you for your efforts.

[Now how to tactfully suggest a clearer explanation might be in order...]

Is there any other information relevant to this that I could look over?
geniustheveil: (pgsm ☤ shock!)

[Ami plays back Daisy's explanation a few times to let it sink in fully.]

Amazing! I wish I could have been there for its development.
