Indeed. While we try to look at them as a way to gather information, it seems more likely than not that we're given false pretenses to work under. It's their way of getting a job done with bodies that aren't their own number, and if something happens to any of us, it isn't as if we can give much away on what their intentions were, beyond what they wanted us to know in the first place.
