[Locked Transmission to Residents]

Residents. This is Chief Petty Officer Daisy SPARTAN-023.

I am informing that on July 15th of the fifth registered cycle of the Luceti enclosure, we are getting close on cracking the code for the card key and the terminals found for the recently discovered installations in the tunnels. Now the decision lies on which door to open for our benefit.

The doors present in the new areas reached are the following:

- Archives
- Armory
- Call Center
- Classified
- Garage
- R&D
- Recreation
- Security
- Storage

Due to the risk of the card being good for one use only as a likely safety procedure used in the past for these installations, this choice will be held by democratic vote. We don't know what will be find in any of these doors, so choose wisely. While intel is always precious in this place... so is tech.

((OOC: This is a discussion post, use it for your characters to speak about the possibilities and the tunnels that could be used, and why.))

R&D might be a dead end too for the same reasons. On the other hand, we could learn something from seeing what they decided wasn't important enough to destroy or remove.

Maybe. I'll admit that one interests me. I think it's the one most likely to yield any information concerning Shifting.

It's also the one most likely to be full of useless junk. [ But what if... ] We're better off betting on other horses, if this is our only shot.

[ Normally he'd take the jab in stride, but today being as it is...it grates more than usual. ]

Plenty of faith, not enough patience. At this rate, it will take us the better part a year to open all these doors.

[All right. Toning down the jibes.]

Well like I told Daisy, if you want something you can get immediate use out of, there's two rooms that are most likely to have anything good in them. After that it's picking and choosing which ones might have good intel.

And those ones are more of a gamble. [ ... ] Why did they have to call it "classified", anyway? It's just asking to be opened. Begging, really.

Honestly, we can afford to be prudent. These doors were down here for a long time, and it's not a coincidence that we suddenly have access to all of this.
misterbrief: (you're lying)

[Voice]

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-07-16 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I tend to agree. If there was something down there they didn't want us to be able to access, they would have removed it long ago. I don't like the idea of risking using that card for something worthless like an empty cage.

Indeed. We need to consider the possibilities of each option and choose carefully. Should the card work more than once, it means we'll have other options lined up. Rushing in blindly just because it "sounds" like a gamble won't change things any quicker.

[For all they knew, whatever was in that 'classified' section could very well be what killed the person down there.]

It all depends on the circumstances. The last risk brought Twila to the village - and we still don't know the real truth about that.

There's a difference between risk and getting the job done correctly. Open whatever you please then. Perhaps you'll of gotten something through that thick skull of yours when there's nothing but a dusty chair inside. Use your brain, why would they risk something like that.

I think the answer is much more simple. A door that's going to hold something they didn't find useful is going to more than likely be a better option for a choice. I don't trust that the Malnosso would leave behind important information, especially if they had time to move everything out and lock it up as tightly as it was.

But since the card did exist, I do believe there's something of value down there. More than likely weaponry. Something that if they needed to access it inside the barrier it would help against any attacks from the Third Party.

All we know for certain is that that there's something down there that either they - or a group working apart from them, at this point - want us to get our hands on. This isn't the only village with a tunnel system, but it's always been implied that there's something different here.

Whatever the case may be, we need to be sure that our choices are for our benefit, and not one made in haste. If we are lucky, we'll be able to crack all the needed codes - but it does take a long time. That's why we need to be more sure of what we're getting into.

I imagine they would. But if they were in a hurry, maybe not all of it's quite gone. It'll be interesting to find out either way. It'll be telling in itself of how fast they left.

Yeah. If they left enough scraps, we might be able to piece together a rough outline of what happened. Combine it with other information we already have, and it might even be possible to make a timeline.

[Yeah, there are things bothering him about this whole deal. Carol and Davis may have had one key, but the previous inhabitants had known exactly where the other was kept. Why didn't they open this level? Did they do it in reality and Carol and Davis never knew? That didn't sound right.

The wall had said the previous inhabitants had taken the secrets of this place. What did that mean? And the tree rumors said Carol and Davis were the only survivors. Were those true?

Other things... was there a connection here to the abandoned lab in the mountains? The wall had spoken of wreckage in the desert. Maybe it wasn't the temple ruins but something else. And that third floor. They had been mining down there. But what? The element used in the droids to enable their shifting perhaps?

Did they delve too deep?

And was it connected to Twila? It had been down there.

... so many mysteries.]

... hopefully it turns out that way. Especially if the reason that they abandoned the complex was something dangerous to them. We don't want to be repeating history.

[There are many things Gai wants to know too, particularly concerning Carol and Davis now that he's pieced together the writing from the walls. What interests him most is the "her" that was mentioned, the "her" that the two of them seem so desperate to get back. While he has a theory or two, he'd like some concrete evidence towards it before he even ponders doing anything else.]

History has a tendency to repeat itself whether we like it or not. The more knowledge we have against it, the better.
